Upper Plenty Hall News (The Shack) June 2012

UPPER PLENTY HALL (THE SHACK) NEWS

Hayley, who has been writing this column for the last few months, will be taking a back seat for a while due to health problems. The Committee wishes her all the best and looks forward to her return in 2013. We will miss her vibrant personality and “can do” approach. In the year and few months Hayley has been on the Hall Committee of Management she has really impressed us with her ability to get things done. She has also been very successful in securing a number of grants to help maintain & improve the hall. We will miss her very much and hope we can keep up to her high standards.

The personalised pavers which will be placed around the perimeter of the outdoor area are about to be ordered. If you would like one and haven’t yet ordered, please contact Deirdre Payne on 0438 054 192. Deirdre will also be the Upper Plenty representative on the Bushfire Memorial Committee during Hayley’s absence, so if you have any queries about what’s happening please contact her.

Thanks to Ross Mugavin who has repaired the piano castor (foot) and returned it to inside the hall. The UPPS students will miss playing it after school, as will other visiting children.

We have around 1,000 indigenous plants to be planted out around the Creek arriving this month. If you would like to help out with planting please email us so we can let you know about our planting days. Planting days are a great family & community activity and also a good way to meet people in your community you might not otherwise get to meet. If you haven’t already had a walk around the creek area behind the Shack, do come and have a look. It is shaping up to be a beautiful recreational area and additional indigenous plantings, along with the interpretive signage, can only make it better.
