UPPER PLENTY HALL NEWS (THE SHACK) October 2011.

Building & refurbishments are almost complete and we expect the hall to be open for business by the end of October. There will be some small projects to complete such as the ordering and placement of the personalised pavers. The playground will be installed over a three day period starting October 10th and the gazebo should be installed soon after. Don’t forget to order your personalised pavers. Contact Hayley or Alison to order.

We had a very successful Planting Day with the whole student population of Upper Plenty Primary School on Friday 23rd September. The students were all wonderfully enthusiastic and did a great job, planting out around 350 plants. Well done!! Grateful thanks to teachers, parents, and volunteers, especially Elyse Kelly from Mitchell Shire Council. Out of the day came some terrific ideas for future activities, such as an art project for the students to paint the new water tank.

We are going to be holding an

Upper Plenty Community Day

on Sunday 20th November, 11am – 4pm. If you are a local business, a resident who runs a business, artist, craftsperson, or a community group who would like to display / showcase on the day please contact Rose on 5783-1661 or email shack [AT] upperplenty.com Local author, Lou Drofenik, will be reading from her most recent novel and signing copies for purchasers. There will be childrens’ entertainment; plant giveaways, live music, and a free sausage sizzle at lunch time. There will also be an Upper Plenty Trivia Quiz so start studying now! It should be a great day – put it on your calendar now before Christmas events take over.

The next

Community Night

will be held on Friday 4th November, starting at 6pm. There will be pizzas at 6pm followed by an Old-Time Movie Night at 7pm. Admission is free to Upper Plenty residents. If you have been to one of our Old-Time Movie Nights previously, you will know that our projectionist, Alan Voight, always puts on a great selection of treats. This year’s feature film is Abbott & Costello’s Pardon My Sarong. It should be lots of fun.
